Share The Dignity

LJ Hooker Nerang started collecting goods for women in need in 2018, with Jane Doogan collecting personal items through the office in 2019.

“This is something that is so close to my heart” Jane said

“There are women on the streets that use newspaper or old socks because they simply can’t afford pads or tampons. Sometimes the choice has to be made between eating and sanitary items.”

In 2019, LJ Hooker confirmedShare the Dignity as its new charity partner.

Uganda Kids

While some of our friends in Masaka, Uganda, are poor by western standards they have an incredible faith and love of life.

They are hopeful and cheerful regardless of their circumstances.  Some of them are nurses, teachers, farmers, tradesmen, business people and unemployed. Some exist on $1 a day.

It only takes $130 to educate a child for a year. If you would like to help Jane towards her goal, give her a call on 0413 872 972 or email her at jdoogan.nerang@ljh.com.au

Our vision is: “kids finish school”.

We believe that one way to break the poverty cycle in which many find themselves in Uganda is through education.

A donation of $5 per fortnight is enough to pay school fees, provide lunch at school and a new uniform every year.

This is a public fundraising program and you have been made aware of the plight of these children in the hope that you might consider giving them a helping hand.

Uganda Kids is a registered Public Benevolent institution with the ACNC and a Deductible Gift Recipient approved by the Australian Taxation Office.

It takes only $130 to educate a child for a whole year.

Lifeline

Crisis Support. Suicide Prevention.

Jane is a telephone councillor for Lifeline, a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.

Somewhere in Australia there is a new call to Lifeline every minute. People call Lifeline’s 24 hour crisis line 13 11 14 about:

  • Suicidal thoughts or attempts
  • Personal crisis
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Loneliness
  • Abuse and trauma
  • Stresses from work, family or society
  • Self-help information for friends and family

Lifeline is a national charity and relies on community support.

With a long history of supporting our local communities, LJ Hooker takes pride in the many ways we give back - whether it's across the street or across the world.

Our history of helping others

As a group and as individuals, LJ Hooker has a proud past of helping others. Individual offices raise funds on a local level for a variety of causes including local schools and amenities, research into medical cures or the provision of goods and services for those most in need.

We lend LJ Hooker marquees to community and charity groups, rally around local events, and donate our time and efforts to numerous neighbourhood causes.

As a group, our contributions have made a real difference to many, including:

  • Over $5 million raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Research Fund over a 18-year “Partnership in Caring”
  • Over $1 million raised as part of the Tsunami Appeal, which directly funded part of the rebuilding efforts in Aceh, Indonesia.
  • Over $1 million raised for SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) research through Red Nose Day activities.

As an office, we have:

  • Climbed Mount Warning annually for 10 years to raise money for CF Australia
  • Taken “Great Strides” to raise money for CF Queensland for the past 11 years

In addition, we also…
